Current patch decision guide

When to pick Flowborn (Tank), when to avoid them, and how to adapt your build.

Updated 2026-06-04

Flowborn (Tank) are a balanced Clash Lane Tank who wants to create engage windows with stuns and slows. Public guide data shows a build centered on Giant's Grip, Boots of Resistance, Blazing Cape, used to soak pressure in lane and threaten side objectives. Pick them when the draft lets Flowborn (Tank) reach the targets their kit is designed to threaten; avoid when the enemy is built around percent-HP damage and armor penetration.

Pick Flowborn (Tank) when

  • The enemy team has multiple high-mobility threats that need to be locked down before they reach your backline
  • Your team needs a primary front-line who can engage on cooldown windows
  • The enemy team relies on grouped fights or channeled abilities, exactly what Power From Within interrupts best.

Avoid Flowborn (Tank) when

  • Your team lacks the follow-up damage to convert your control windows into kills
  • The enemy stacks anti-tank items like armor penetration and percent-HP damage, melting front-liners quickly
  • The enemy team is built around answers to Crowd Control, removing the windows Flowborn (Tank)'s kit needs to perform.

Power spikes

Early game: focus on safe lane phase and tracking jungle pressure before Flowborn (Tank)'s mid-game tools come online.
Ultimate online: All In extends control duration, making team fights snowball off a single hit
Late game: Bloodweeper, Overlord's Platemail, and Glacial Buckler on the bar means Flowborn (Tank) can soak commits in 5v5 team fights for their carries.

Build decisions

Default clash lane path

Public build references for Flowborn (Tank) recommend Giant's Grip, Boots of Resistance, Blazing Cape, Bloodweeper, Overlord's Platemail, and Glacial Buckler. Use this as the baseline tank plan before adapting to the enemy draft.

Situational item pivots

Spare options listed in build data include Longnight Guardian. Treat these as situational swaps when the default path is not enough — for example, swapping in defensive items against burst comps or penetration items against stacked armor.

Matchup logic

Versus mobility

Dashes and immunity skills bypass Flowborn (Tank)'s control. Force the enemy mobility before committing All In, and aim control on stationary targets like channeling carries.

Role positioning

Flowborn (Tank) are a Clash Lane pick whose value depends on a durable front-line presence with steady wave control. Stick to the role plan rather than forcing fights their kit is not designed to win.

Synergies

Public synergy data lists Zhang Fei, Agudo, and Shouyue as strong partners for Flowborn (Tank). Plan engages around Zhang Fei's setup window, then second-engage with All In.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing Power From Within on the front-line tank instead of saving it for backline carries.
  • Building damage items hoping to deal kills, when the team needs the durability that makes you a tank in the first place.
  • Engaging without checking enemy summoner-spell cooldowns, which often decide whether Flowborn (Tank)'s commit reaches the target alive.
  • Forcing solo engages instead of waiting for ally commit — Flowborn (Tank)'s value compounds when the team follows up on engages.

Background

Zhulu Plateau
“Only in battle can you learn your own truth.”

According to future historians, Jixia Academy was where it all began. But if we turn back the clock to the present—at the unnoticed gates of Jixia Academy—a student has just returned from his studies abroad... The wheels of fate have begun to turn, and no one can break the cycle already set in motion. You knew you'd end up walking that thorny road, because it was never ice-cold rationality and planning that guided you, but the warmth that arose from within in the moment while fighting alongside your companions.

Build

How to choose a build

Start with the safe default badge if the draft looks normal, then swap to burst, anti-tank, sustain, or utility builds when the matchup clearly calls for it.

Skills

passive Flow of the World

Can change Flow states at the Base to enhance stats. Vitality: Increases max Health and Physical and Magical Defense. Piercing Heart: Increases max Health and Physical Attack. Haste: Increases max Health and Movement Speed. Focus: Increases max Health and Cooldown Reduction. Spend 1 stack of Flow to perform an enhanced Basic Attack and deal damage and gain recovery.

skill1 Convergence

Channels the Flow, reducing the cooldown of other skills by 50%. Also gains 5–9 stacks of Flow based on the number of nearby heroes and minions and recovers Health based on Flow stacks. Damages and knocks back nearby enemies (without applying crowd control).

skill2 Power From Within

Charges at the target and slashes, dealing damage, launching enemies, and gaining a shield. Using the skill continuously over a short time converts it to Clearing Slash and Rifting Slash. If the skill is not on cooldown, spend 4 stacks of Flow to stop it from entering cooldown after use.

ultimate All In

Leaps to the target location and attacks, dealing damage and launching enemies. If the skill is not on cooldown, spend 5 stacks of Flow to stop it from entering cooldown after this use.

Playstyle

Land control on the enemy carry, not the front-line tank — chain follow-up damage from teammates immediately after. Engage on cooldown windows where carries can free-cast, not before your team is in position.
