Current patch decision guide

When to pick Haya, when to avoid them, and how to adapt your build.

Updated 2026-05-31

Haya is a strong Mid Mage who wants to control space with safe ranged abilities. Public guide data shows a build centered on Spell Tome, Boots of the Arcane, Venomous Staff, paired with Flash, used to farm safely and rotate to side lanes when the wave allows. Pick her when the draft lets Haya reach the targets her kit is designed to threaten; avoid when the matchup denies the windows her kit needs.

Pick Haya when

  • The enemy team plays dive comp, giving you space to poke before they engage
  • Your team has the structure to use her ability to farm safely and rotate to side lanes when the wave allows, since Haya delivers consistent damage output and timely roams.
  • The enemy draft includes Sakeer, Zilong, and Milady, who appear in counter data as matchups Haya can pressure.

Avoid Haya when

  • The enemy has hard engage that closes distance through poke patterns
  • Your team needs a jungle pick more than Haya's specialty, leaving the role unfilled if you commit here.
  • The enemy team is built around answers to Ranged Harass, removing the windows Haya's kit needs to perform.

Power spikes

Early game: Haya is listed as an early-game threat in public guide data — convert the early window into objectives before scaling picks come online.
Mana sustain online: poke patterns become repeatable once cooldown reduction and mana regen items come online
Late game: cooldowns become short enough that Wayward Rays influences every team fight rather than being a one-shot tool.

Build decisions

Magic-pierce poke mage core

Haya's official build supports her Ranged Harass identity through magical penetration. Spell Tome and Boots of the Arcane (magical pierce) open her scaling, then Twilight Stream (more magical pierce) and Savant's Wrath (greatly boosts magical attack) make her poke punch through resistances. Venomous Staff lowers enemy Health regen so her chip damage sticks against sustain targets.

Lifesteal, anti-tank & survivability

Insatiable Tome adds magical lifesteal so she heals off her spells, Sage's Tome rounds out her mage scaling, and Void Staff is the anti-tank pivot against health-stacked frontlines. Splendor (temporary invincibility) is the survivability option for an immobile poke mage. The recommended arcana are Nightmare, Saint, Reincarnation, Hunt and Tribute, with Flash for repositioning.

Matchup logic

Versus hard engage

Haya loses value when forced into close-range fights. Stick with the front line, hold a flash or repositioning skill, and avoid being caught alone in the river.

Role positioning

Haya is a Mid pick whose value depends on consistent damage output and timely roams. Stick to the role plan rather than forcing fights her kit is not designed to win.

Synergies

Public synergy data lists Umbrosa and Fatih as strong partners for Haya. Plan engages around Umbrosa's setup window, then second-engage with Moonscape Mirage.

Common mistakes

  • Spending mana on poke that does not threaten kills, leaving you empty for the actual fight.
  • Engaging without checking enemy summoner-spell cooldowns, which often decide whether Haya's commit reaches the target alive.
  • Greeding farm in mid lane while side lanes get camped — rotation timing matters more than CS lead in most matchups.

Background

Evernight Aspiration

Alsahraa
“Vicissitudes in a flash of light.”

A young girl once abandoned as "useless", Haya was saved by Diqun. She then became an enforcer, vowing to dedicate her life to the deity. During the Fall of the Superbeings, Haya died saving Diqun. Her soul remained in a slumber atop Tianque Peak in the northern desert. A thousand years later, she was awakened by a skeleton blast, and began to plan Diqun's return... Now, her conspiracy gradually surfaces. The long-buried events from a millennium ago in Alsahraa are about to be revealed...
