Honor of Kings Clash Lane Guide — Best Bruisers, Wave Freeze & Teleport (2026)

Updated for the current international patch. Hero tiers pulled from the live HoKStats tier list.

Quick summary

Clash lane is the 1v1 island top lane. You trade, freeze waves near your tower, farm Jungle camps when pushed, and use Teleport to join Tyrant fights. S-tier picks right now are Augran and Chicha, followed by Arthur, Cao Cao, Musashi and Sun Ce.

What does the clash lane do?

Clash lane is about lane control and Teleport tempo. You almost never win the game from lane alone — but you can lose it by dying twice.

Best clash lane heroes right now

16 heroes are currently viable in Clash Lane. Tier order reflects the latest patch.

Core clash lane items

Bruiser clash laners run 10× Hunt or Fortitude (red) + 10× Mutation (green) + 10× Indomitable (blue) for balanced offense + tank stats. Tank clash laners replace reds with Fortitude and blues with Harmony.

Clash lane early game

  1. Level 1–2: Contest the first wave. Don’t take bad trades — clash lane matchups snowball hard.
  2. Level 3–4: Freeze the wave 2 minion-widths from your tower if the enemy is stronger.
  3. Level 4: Ping your jungler for a gank if the wave is frozen near you.
  4. Minute 3–4: If you’re ahead, shove the wave and take enemy jungle camps (Spirit Owl / Tyrant Crab area).
  5. Minute 4+: Watch Tyrant spawn. Use Teleport to join the fight — do NOT stay in lane farming solo.

5 mistakes every clash lane player makes

1. Using Teleport to recall

Teleport is for joining Tyrant / Overlord and counter-ganks. Never waste it to save 15 seconds of walk time.

2. Over-pushing with no vision

Shoving past river without pings = free kill for enemy jungler. Always ping for vision.

3. Ignoring resistance boots vs magic comps

If enemy team has 2+ mages, Boots of Resistance beats Fortitude. Check the scoreboard.

4. Full-damage bruiser build

Bruisers need at least 1 defensive item by minute 8. Spikemail or Blood Rage vs ADCs; Blazing Cape or Ominous Premonition vs mages.

5. Leaving the wave dead

If you back, push the wave first. A dead wave = the enemy gets 3 free CS.

Matchups

Bruisers (Arthur, Sun Ce, Musashi) beat squishy duelists in extended trades. Skirmisher assassins (Lam, Musashi) beat slow tanks pre-6. If you are counter-picked, freeze + farm + wait for gank. Don’t force lane.

Coordinate Teleport + jungler ganks. Ping before you back so the jungler can cover the wave.

Clash Lane FAQ

What is clash lane in Honor of Kings?

Clash lane is the top lane — a solo island where one bruiser or tank trades in a 1v1 and uses Teleport to rotate for objectives. It is the closest Honor of Kings equivalent to “top lane” in other MOBAs.

Who is the best clash laner right now?

S-tier clash laners are Augran and Chicha. Safe and easy A-tier picks are Arthur, Cao Cao, Li Xin, Musashi and Sun Ce. See the clash column on our /tier-list/ page.

Should I freeze or shove in clash lane?

Freeze when behind or when expecting a gank. Shove when your jungler is on the opposite side of the map (to take enemy jungle or recall safely) or right before Tyrant spawns.

What summoner spell should I run in clash?

Teleport is the default. It lets you join Tyrant fights and cross-map ganks. Only swap to Disrupt vs heavy-CC comps.

When should I build defensive items as a bruiser?

After your 2nd offensive item (usually minute 7–9). Pick based on enemy damage: Spikemail/Blood Rage vs physical, Blazing Cape/Eye of the Phoenix vs magic.
